This year at E3 2006, I’m hosting a panel with some really interesting game developers.

TIM WILLITS – Co-Owner and Lead Designer at id Software for 11 years now, known for high profile games like Doom 3 and Quake 4.
TODD HOWARD – Executive Producer at Bethesda Game Studios, known for games like Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind, Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, Fallout 3.
KEN LEVINE – President &Creative Director for Irrational Games. IGN awarded his company Developer of the Year for 2005, they are known for games like System Shock II, Freedom Force and one of my personal favorite games SWAT 4. They have offices in the USA and Australia.
SUDA 51 – CEO, Game Designer and Director from a team called Grasshopper Manufacture in Japan, known for the cult hit game Killer 7, his next game is a heavy action game called Kurayami.
Here’s what we are planning to talk about:
What’s Next: coming face-to-face with designers shaping the future of games.
The ongoing conversation about the best use of Hollywood licenses or the importance of a game’s soundtrack may qualify as today’s big-buzz topics, but addressing the present-day opportunities and challenges facing today’s game industry is only half the story. What about upcoming games that go beyond today’s trends and prosaic preoccupations? What’s next? What’s really next? This session will invite designers who have already made an impact on game design to share their personal vision of tomorrow’s game experience and what they are doing to shape it. What new concepts are they working with? What’s their idea of perfect gameplay? What chances need to be taken and what should tomorrow’s games aspire to?
If you have any questions you want me to ask these guys (if there’s any spare time on stage), send them to feedback@dperry.com
