David Perry was the Founder & President of Shiny Entertainment, Inc. (a game development studio based in Laguna Beach California, subsequently bought by Interplay, then Atari.)  Shiny was known for cult hits like Earthworm Jim & MDK.

Perry has developed or programmed games across 29 video game platforms, including #1 Hits like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and other top brands including The Terminator, Disney’s Aladdin & Warner’s Matrix projects, all told they have sold over a billion dollars in retail sales.

Perry was awarded a Doctorate in Engineering from Queens University and the first Master’s Degree in Game Development from Westwood College.  He was one of the longest serving members of the Game Developers Conference Advisory Board, and has spoken at TED, E3, Hollywood and Games, Stanford, MIT, USC, UCI, UCLA, DICE, GTC, GDC, AMD, MGS, Digital Hollywood, What Teens Want, 3D Gaming Summit, Casual Connect etc.

Perry was the Co-Founder & Chief Creative Officer evangelizing “free-to-play” while reviving the brand Acclaim which was subsequently purchased by Playdom, then by Disney.

In 2009 Perry became the CEO and co-founder of Gaikai, a company that developed a cutting-edge video game streaming technology that allows games and applications to run in any browser or on any internet connected device.

Gaikai was acquired by Sony Computer Entertainment in July 2012.

Perry has launched a book for students called “David Perry on Game Design”, it’s the largest non-profit book on Game Design (www.GameDesignBook.org), and it funds a free industry map to help developers find local jobs. (www.GameIndustryMap.com)

After over 30 years in the business Perry remains one of the best known (and tallest) Video Game Industry veterans, winning the Develop Conference – Development Legend award in 2012.
