Our Community Created Game Project!

December 1, 2007 — Leave a comment

Hi,
We began with a “community created game design” contest, and it’s had a stunning response. More than 55,000 people signed up to help on the design and the result is a “Beast Racing” game design that’s already like nothing seen before.
When the project ends we will choose one designer (it could be you), Acclaim will give them a fully funded commercial MMO game to direct. (Yes, really, we’re offering the ultimate career spike.)
So now, we’ve created an extra competition, open to any new or seasoned developers in the world, to see who can make the best “real” PC multiplayer game based on this community design.
This is no exercise, but a genuine opportunity to create a commercial game published by a leading publisher, Acclaim Games. To assure that this game gets published, Acclaim will cover the winner’s normal licensing costs for ANY commercially available game engine in the world (yes Unreal and Crytek are fine), including professional middleware (physics, video players etc.)
Acclaim will pay up to $1,000,000 (US) of these license fees for you! (That covers anything we’re aware of!), they will also provide all servers and support to run the game commercially.
The winning team will receive an industry standard development agreement (including royalties), plus an instant $100,000 cash prize. Of course, they also get full developer credit to add to their resumes. (NOTE: If a college makes a team that cannot accept a cash prize or royalties, they can assign the prizes to a charity or specific college resource.)
In addition, teams competing for the prize will enjoy full support from the Top Secret community. What does that mean? It means you can ask them to help with any assets you need, or to clarify (or work on) specific design areas, you can even ask them to join your team.
To get involved, simply visit www.videogameteam.com and read all about the development competition details and rules.
If you have absolutely any questions, simply email : competition@videogameteam.com
It costs nothing to get involved. The result will be the first professional community created video game in history.
We wish you the best of luck!
David Perry
Director, Project: Top Secret.
